4 Corners Basketball- London Feb. 10-11

posted Dec 12, 2011 10:07 AM by Stephanie Koenig

The Four Corners 3 on 3 Youth Basketball Competition is fast approaching!

This new and exciting opportunity offers individuals with intellectual disabilities, ages 13-21, the chance to compete in their very own youth competition.

On February 10-11, 2012, Special Olympics Ontario will host youth athletes in London!

Athletes can be either registered with SO, or new athletes. Teams can be made up of 3-5 players, with any volunteer coach who is willing to support and coach the athletes.

Whether you have no experience in sport or are an experienced athlete, coach, volunteer or fan... FOUR CORNERS is a fun event where we welcome everyone to play!

Registration is free and includes lunch and a T-shirt! To register, please visit the website: http://fourcorners.specialolympicsontario.ca

Four Corners is a new provincial basketball program that aims to enhance the fitness and ability levels of youth athletes from across the province.

The Four Corners program will serve to provide quality competition to school and community youth athletes with intellectual disabilities across the province and provide a vehicle for continued success for these athletes through advancement to a provincial final competition. This exercise will bring together athletes from the four corners (northern, eastern, southern and western Ontario).  Additionally this program will leave an ongoing legacy by fostering competition coordination capacity through partnerships with local community colleges and universities. As well, the creation of ActiveStart and FUNdamentals programming within local community partners, further raising awareness of the opportunities presented by sport for children and youth with intellectually disablities.

London will be hosting a Four Corners event on February 10-11. To register, go to the Four Corners Website:  http://fourcorners.specialolympicsontario.ca
